Tools for Writers: How to Build a Story

Brandon Sanderson, Icon Festival’s Guest of Honor in  2019, isn’t just one of the most successful science fiction and fantasy authors today, but also a well-respected writing teacher and a member of the Hugo-winning podcast “Writing Excuses”. In this talk, Sanderson will give writers (and soon-to-be writers) some tools for writing, talk about the structure of a story and explain what works when building a story and what… not so much.

Brandon Sanderson, the Festival’s Guest of Honor, is one of the most successful fantasy authors of the last two decades. His books, known for their complex,magical worldbuilding, have been translated into 35 languages and have won many awards. 16 of his books have been published in Hebrew, including the Mistborn trilogy, The Stormlight Archive series and his first book, “Elantris”. Sanderson lives in Utah, USA with his wife Emily and their three children.
