Apocalypse at ICon 98

Will technology transform us, or will it simply destroy us? In a somewhat millenial spirit, ICon 98 examines the Apocalyptic images seen so frequently in SF in the following three offerings:

Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to love the bomb and stop worrying.

Stanley Kubrick's hilarious black comedy masterpiece features the late, great Peter Sellers in three unforgettable roles! As a british officer, an ex-nazi nuclear scientist and the president of the United States! An insane general launches Nuclear war. Can the good guys prevent apocalypse or will the heroic troops win through to armageddon after all?
With George C. Scott and James Earl Jones.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Director's Cut)

James Cameron's epic pitts man (woman, actually) against the embodiment of technological destruction, the Terminator (or rather, his more sophisticated, less sentimental descendant), in a struggle to prevent a terrifying future of atomic genocide. Cameron's vision can be seen in full in this exclusive Director's Cut.
With Linda Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Twelve Monkeys

Terry Gilliam's time-travel nightmare sends a condemned convict (Bruce Willis) into his past on a Kafkaesque quest to prevent a mysterious terrorist organization from unleashing the biological doomsday weapon which has nearly wiped out the human race by his time.

And if Time travel and paradoxes (as featured in the last two films) interests you, be sure to check out Avi Chami's Time Travel talk and discover why its better to prevent the apocalypse from happening in the first place than going back in time to try and fix it after...
