The HABITAT Project

The HABITAT project is part of ICon 98, the Sukkot (October) SF Convention that takes place at the Tel-Aviv Cinematheque
on the 6th-8th of October.
The goal of the HABITAT project is to make a plan for human survival beyond the Solar System. To do this, the HABITAT project team will design a self-sufficient space habitat that can function as a generation starship for interstellar voyages. The team will consult through email before the convention to prepare, but its actual work will be shaped through interaction with the audience in the three days of the convention.
HABITAT related sessions in the convention include to following (times and speakers subject to change):

6th of October 1300-1400: Dr. Noah Brosch will talk about Space Exploration and Star Travel.

1500-1600: A Panel introducing the HABITAT mission and team. The panel will focus on physical and technical parameters of the "generation ship". Guest panelist: Dr. Noah Brosch. Moderator: Amit Izhar

7th of October 1600-1700: A HABITAT session on Society and Government in the HABITAT generation ship. Guest panelist: Dr. Nachman Ben Yehuda. Moderator: Oren Rahat

8th of October 1200-1300: Brian Stableford will give a talk about "Evolving into Space", how humans will adapt to a permanent existence in space.

1300-1400: Closing HABITAT session will summarize the team's work, and discuss the future of the generation ship and its inhabitants. Moderator: Amnon Stupp
